AutoCAD is a software which is mainly used for computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting. AutoCAD was released by Autodesk in 1982 as a desktop application. Till now 31 versions has been released and 32nd will be released in 2017. Initially it was only a 2D application but now it contains all the features of 3D Solid & Surface modeling as well as realistic rendering commands. The file format for AutoCAD is .dwg and it also include support for .dwf for publishing the data.

Autodesk offers AutoCAD for different discipline with tools and functions especially suited to their work.

  • AutoCAD Architecture
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • AutoCAD Electrical
  • AutoCAD ecscad
  • AutoCAD Map 3D
  • AutoCAD Mechanical
  • AutoCAD MEP
  • AutoCAD Structural Detailing
  • AutoCAD Utility Design
  • AutoCAD P&ID
  • AutoCAD Plant 3

AutoCAD Supports Windows & Mac operating system.

AutoCAD 360 Supports Android, iOS&Windows tablets.

 Use of AutoCAD

AutoCAD is used in almost every field where we design.

At the earliest stages of a design project, engineers use AutoCAD to convert ideas in to Sketch and analyzing them to determine the best solution for the given problem. The software makes the process quick and easy and eliminates the need to draw new blueprints for each version of an idea and simplifies redesigns.

For Engineering:-

AutoCAD is used in the drawings of engineering components, designs and analyzing HVAC systems. It is the most used/ recommended design software due to its professional & unique drafting tools.

For Architects:-

AutoCAD comes with built in design layouts that contains several templates specially designed for building construction & architectural planning. Latest versions of AutoCAD also provide tools for analysis of building components and calculate the stress & strain for every support structure.

For Electrical:-

AutoCAD is also used to create drawings of electrical control system, substation schematics, transmission grid schematics, wiring diagram schematics and ladder diagrams.
